i have a good friend, Bruce Collins, who recently guest blogged for me for my Strength Weakness series on the topic of how PEOPLE for him can be both a strength and a weakness…
i love his blogging, he has a way of expressing so much in so few words and in a powerful and humble way and so when he wrote two recent letters to the church i knew it was something for more people to be able to read and hopefully ‘get’ although as with a lot of prophetic or ‘nailing-it’ blogs/letters/preaches on most topics, i imagine it will for the most part be the people who already ‘get it’ who will be the ones who read these [and cheer loudly from the sidelines in agreement] while those who need to hear them most, both in leadership and just people who once a week or more fill the pews or plastic seats, will either never read the words or have them largely missed or lost in pious righteous-anger-feeling missingthepointness reaction response…
but there is always hope that someone will read, and take it in, and hear the quiet weeping of Jesus in the background at a church that for the most part sometimes just seems to get it so completely wrong… and decided to change the world, and change the church… by starting with themselves…
so i give you Bruce Collins letter to the churches, part one
and Bruce Collins letter to the churches, part two
read, take it, meditate on, hold on to the good [avoid every kind of evil] and then share, pass on, reblog, speak out, pray, encourage and above all, start to be the change you want to be.
start to be the church. for real.
